‘RUTLAND’S NIRVANA AT CREAMOFBRITISH’

We are Debbie & Ian Simms-Walker, living with our furkids on the South Coast in Hampshire, UK, they are my life but not my whole life as I have five Grandchildren that fill my days and heart with love too. We were the first to import the Australian Labradoodle from Rutland Manor and we did form the A.L.A.E.U with the other original seven European breeders but we’re not members of any Australian or UK Labradoodle Association now, our endorsement comes from the owners of our puppies, many of whom have returned for a second and even a sixth puppy, we rarely advertise as most CreamofBritish puppies are homed through recommendation, we have now had several children of our puppy parents coming for their first puppy having grown up with them for fifteen years. Labradoodle Association membership restricts our ability to further develop the Australian Labradoodle.

I am extremely proud of my dogs and our achievements over many years, we’ve shown at Crufts, they’ve been to lots of grooming competitions, many of our puppies are Assistance Dogs for children & adults with special needs, they’ve been on television adverts and on the big screen in Star Wars but most of all they help me get through life, they are my friends, they’ve brought lovely people into my life too, many of whom are friends for life.

Everything you read on my site is written by me derived over many years of experience and love of my dogs, my work has been plagiarised by other Australian Labradoodle breeders which saddens me so much to think other breeders can be so dishonest to put someone else’s work to their name.

Our dogs and puppies

Our dogs and puppies are all reared naturally we feed raw and we do not over vaccinate. Our girls are fed PP Raw Dog food throughout their pregnancy and puppies are weaned straight onto PP Raw. Our dogs and all CreamofBritish Australian labradoodle puppies are born in our house and live as part of our family ensuring that you get a well reared, well socialised, virtually house trained puppy.

All of our dogs are hip scored and elbow scored (Standard, Medium and Miniature) Optigen tested as an absolute minimum before breeding but most have also been DNA profiled and are Clear for up to two hundred and two different test results as we go above and beyond breed requirements, all health records are available for inspection. Thankfully there are some conscientious breeders of Labradoodles in the Uk who have a true passion for the breed. There are no excuses for not health testing, not all breeders are transparent though and whether they are in an association or not you must ask to see proof of health testing!

The first Australian Labradoodle stud dog to be imported from Rutland Manor, Australia

Our boy “Rutlands Nirvana At CreamofBritish” is a maker of history, as the first stud dog to be imported from Rutland Manor, Australia. The Australian Labradoodle is bred purely as a family pet, unlike pedigree dogs who are separated into breed groups, Gundog, Hound, Pastoral, Terrier, Toy, Utility and Working. Each breed is bred for a specific purpose, if the Labradoodle ever becomes Kennel Club registered it should come under the breed group Family Companion. The Australian Labradoodle has a joyful temperament, extremely intelligent & intuitive, actively seeking eye contact, gentle & kind, particularly around small children. The Australian Labradoodle coat must not shed or have any doggy odour, they tend to be allergy friendly to the vast majority of people with dog related allergies, however we do not promote our dogs as hypo-allergenic as allergies are too complicated and the breed is still being developed and contrary to what you may believe some Labradoodles do shed, ours don’t ! They are not born with a fabulous coat though! their coats are short when they're born. And neither do they just naturally look fabulous, despite what you read and quite frankly from people who should know better, the Australian Labradoodle coat is high maintenance, see Grooming.

About Labradoodles

The Labradoodle is said to be originally bred by Wally Conran in his quest to find a guide dog suitable for people with allergies but I remember meeting a Labradoodle as a young child in the late 60's in the UK. Wally bred Labradoodle Origins (LO) and of course Wally discovered that not all of the offspring produced had the required allergy friendly coat that was so desired so he stopped doing the cross and other breeders in Australia including Rutland Manor and Tegan Park continued breeding, determined to produce litters with consistent conformation, coat type, and temperament. During the 90s a number of other dog breeds were bred into the Labradoodle lines to assist in this effort, including English Cocker Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel and Irish Water Spaniel, however there is much speculation as to the source of these dogs, it is reported that a few other dog breeds were also introduced into certain lines and only the breeders know the true identity of those dogs but without DNA evidence of these dog breeds no one can be certain exactly what breeds were introduced. The offspring from these matings were then named The Australian Multi Generation Labradoodle and later Rutland Manor purchased the trademark ASD (Australian Service Dog). We continue to develop the breed further but we do it in a transparent manner and we now have our own line of non-shedding Australian Labradoodles who all descend from our original dogs imported from Rutland Manor and Tegan Park. We remortgaged our home to import Nirvana and Molli from Rutland Manor and Dibble from Tegan Park Australia, not something we were prepared to do again, when I recently introduced a new line into my breeding program I flew to America to meet the breeder that I chose, trust me I would have flown straight back home had I made a mistake again.

Australian Labradoodles

I personally find that the nature of the Australian Labradoodle is much calmer than the Labradoodle Origin, the main thing that separates Labradoodle Origins (LO) from the Australian Labradoodle is the fact that Australian Labradoodles, as with pedigree dogs, are infused with other breeds and not just a Poodle x Labrador (LO) Labradoodle Origin. This is what makes the Australian Labradoodle more consistent in temperament, type and coats, very few pedigree dogs have only two parent breeds.
