Gary, Edna & Dico were initially chosen for the film over many other dogs. Dico was a lot older and already quite a keen swimmer but Gary & Edna had to have swimming lessons at our local hydrotherapy pool Richmond Canine Hydrotherapy Centre at Warsash. Both absolutely loved swimming with Nat & Alice, Gary was particularly enthusiastic and reluctant to leave the water. When we’re out and about locally we have to be careful because Gary has tried to swim to the Isle Of Wight and Fawley on several occasions and had to be rescued, swimming in the pool is not the same as heading across the sea Gary and the Solent is not the same as The Mediterranean
